Step back in time to the golden age of steam, dust off your travel bag, pack an Agatha Christie or two, and let your imagination run wild as you take an adventure aboard your very own Victorian railway carriage.
The Experience
Although fully authentic in nearly every way, this railway carriage now has electric, not gas lighting, and all the creature comforts you will need.
Set in a large south facing paddock backed by woodland, this sympathetically restored carriage and adjoining guard’s van, offers a very unique holiday experience.
If you are of a romantic disposition, or a railway buff who mourns the loss of the country railways, this is the ideal holiday destination for you.
Converted into comfortable accommodation, you may well imagine you are steaming along. Just sit back, relax and let time stand very still and enjoy the blissful peace of this scenic rural location.
A warm and cosy spot for two, the carriage has original flooring and brass fittings, a late Victorian walnut double bed and Tiffany style lamps.
A compact fitted kitchen sits at the front end of the carriage and the bedroom and en suite shower room are reached at the far end in the guard’s van, with the living space running in between.
This is a lovely area for both cycling and walking, with or without your dog. A public footpath runs adjacent to the paddock, parts of which follow the old railway line.
The beautiful beaches, marshes and villages that are dotted along the North Norfolk coastline are a mere twenty minute drive away.
Parking available for one car on a shared driveway, a two minute walk away.
Reviews
This pretty and peaceful location is a superb base from which to explore both rural and coastal North Norfolk at any time of the year. The village of Melton Constable is a thirty minute walk, or short drive, away where there are local facilities and an excellent specialist butcher’s shop selling award-winning sausages.
It’s just a twenty five minute drive to the beautiful north Norfolk coast where you can discover charming coastal villages, some great gastro pubs, fantastic scenery and lots more.
For boutique shopping, the popular Georgian market towns of Holt and Burnham Market are both within easy reach.
