Norfolk Holiday Cottage
Wells / Holkham
A Room in the Park
Situated within the walls of Holkham Park on the North Norfolk coast, a Room in the Park offers a truly special Self Catering Holiday Hideaway in a truly unique location. Room in the Park is a converted timber barn dating from 1880 and offers a truly unique place to stay.
More about Room in the Park
The Holkham National Nature Reserve, Holkham Hall and Holkham Bay are only a few minutes’ walk across fields or woodland tracks from A Room in the Park.
The barn has been converted to provide a spacious, double-volume, open plan studio room with en suite shower and direct access to a private area of the walled garden, nestled amongst Holme Oaks and Pine trees. Every effort has been made to retain all the character of the original building which dates from 1873. The beams have been exposed and a solid wood floor and wood burning stove have been installed along with modern day comforts such as flat screen Freeview TV and DVD player.
Beautifully and eclectically furnished, the emphasis has been placed on comfort with a super king size bed providing the option to have 2 good sized single beds if preferred, cotton sheets, soft towels and cosy bathrobes along with a range of luxurious guest toiletries.
Breakfast is not provided but you will find a wonderful selection of teas, coffee, biscuits and nibbles along with kettle, toaster, cafeteire and tea pot, glasses, cups, plates, cutlery and a small fridge with fresh milk, bottled water, local fresh apple juice and enough space to chill your own wine!
The Garden & Wildlife
You may come across one or both of our cats Tilly and Muffin and Molly may wonder in too!! Muffin is the short haired tabby who is very affectionate and will wonder into the barn if the opportunity arrives whilst his mother Tilly is long haired and very timid.
Please don’t be alarmed by the “night sounds”! There are a lot of wild Fallow Deer in the area along with Muntjac and both often come into the garden. We are also fortunate to have a lot of different species of owl nesting in the trees and at certain times of the year the various “calls” between them can be quite noisy!
You will also hear pheasants and in autumn and winter some very noisy geese which fly over the garden on their way to the marshes – often very late at night. In summer you will see a lot of bats flying around at dusk and if early risers, at dawn too.
What to do
The charming seaside town and fishing port of Wells-next-the-Sea is a 10 minute walk away making A Room in the Park a wonderful base for your next Norfolk Holiday.
