Bracken Cottage is a cosy, traditional fisherman's cottage, on the coast road in this pretty coastal village of Brancaster Staithe on the North Norfolk coast.
Beautifully styled and furnished, the cottage provides accommodation for up to four guests with easy access to lots of amenities and within walking distance of two good pub/restaurants, a cafe and numerous shops.
Inside this beautiful cottage you’ll find a pretty and charming interior. Downstairs the living space consists of a sitting room with a coal-effect electric fire, kitchen and dining area with french doors leading onto the pretty, paved, enclosed courtyard garden.
There is also a family bathroom, with a shower over the bath.
Climb the stairs (not too steep) and you’ll find a master bedroom with king-size bed and a lovely twin bedroom with glimpses of the marsh and sea beyond, making it perfect for a small family, or one or two couples to holiday.
Although the kitchen has everything you could need to cook up a tasty treat, Bracken Cottage is only a short walk to the award-winning White Horse pub/restaurant with its large wrap-around balcony and conservatory offering spectacular far-reaching views of the marsh and Scolt Head Island.
If you’re looking for somewhere more family-friendly, then walk a short distance to the award-winning Jolly Sailors which is popular with locals and families alike. With its enclosed children’s play area and beer garden with ice cream booth and pizza oven, it makes a great place to dine whatever the weather (they don’t mind muddy boots and dogs either!)
Walk along the coastal path accessed through the White Horse car park, and walk to neighbouring Brancaster village with its sandy beach, shop/deli and The Ship Inn pub/restaurant, or cycle the quiet lanes inland. Or catch the Coasthopper bus which stops a few minutes walk away and discover the coast without taking the car. Bracken Cottage is a great base for exploring the whole of the North Norfolk coast at any time of the year.
Brancaster Staithe, just a couple of minutes’ drive from Brancaster with its stunning sandy beach, bustles with the sailing fraternity when there’s a high tide, with sailing craft and boats.
Home to Brancaster Staithe Sailing Club, you can also book a boat trip with Branta Cruises and enjoy a day out at Scolt Head Island which is owned and run by the National Trust.
Fresh seafood and coffee can be had from the shed on the quay (in high season) or you can visit the The Jolly Sailors where children, muddy dogs and boots are welcome. For more formal dining visit The White Horse which provides a spectacular view of the marshes and where you can enjoy the local seafood and relaxed but grown-up dining, whilst watching the tide come in over the marsh and creeks.
The Fish Shed on the main road provides the opportunity to take home some great local produce. Kayaks and boats can be hired locally. Brancaster Staithe is situated right on the Norfolk Coast Path.
