There’s plenty of hiking and cycling to enjoy on the estate, not to mention checking out the grand main house, one of the UK’s most spectacular country piles.
But our top tip is the windswept Holkham Beach – an unspoilt stretch of coast where Gwyneth Paltrow walked through the sand in the last scene of Shakespeare in Love.
The property briefly comprises of a stylish and elegant open plan living space that is flooded with light and comes with plenty of period charm.
There is a comfy sofa where you can snuggle up on warm yourself from the crackling wood burning stove.
The kitchenette is not equipped for cooking as there’s just a toaster, kettle and microwave – we encourage you to enjoy the delicious and plentiful eateries of the Burnhams, Wells and beyond.
The bedroom comes with a king size bed and the roomy bathroom has a walk in shower and WC.
Outside there is a private sunny garden with table and bench set.
Behind the Gate is within the grounds of the Holkham Estate set inside the 4,000 acre deer park. The Hall, (open 1st April to 31st October on Monday, Thursday and Sunday) and Park are well worth exploring, and ideal for cycling and walking along many of its designated nature trails.
Holkham is famous for its SSSI nature reserve, the stunning beaches and the abundance of wildlife.
Whether you’re talking the dog for a walk through the pines, enjoying a spot of bird watching or having a family day at the beach, you are sure to fall in love with this beautiful landscape.
